For our 5th Anniversary, I filed a leave off from work without Ian knowing. I was actually planning to surprise him so I let him believe that I’ll be working that day (until the morning itself). Turned out, I ruined all of his surprises! tsk! Since there was no way for him to get rid of me and do everything secretly, he had no choice but tell me his plans. hah!
His first surprise was ordering my favorite cake from RIVA.
FYI, he also bought the same cake for our 3rd anniversary.
Then he was also planning to surprise me with a simple anniversary dinner at home. Nothing big actually but for him to make the effort to plan and think about how he can make the day special was just waaayyy too sweet of him. 🙂
Moving on, since Ian had to pick-up the cake from RIVA, he had no choice again but to tag me along! Lol. We also invited Rence to join us since she was bored Ian’s accomplice for our dinner later. 😉
We left home without having breakfast so we were already starving even before we reached Palm Jumeirah! That’s when the most brilliant idea of grabbing a quick lunch at Little Bangkok popped up. The three of us were terribly excited hungry so we drove to Little Bangkok as fast as we could. hehe
FYI, Little Bangkok currently has 4 restaurants in Dubai. These branches are located in Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Oud Metha, and the recently opened Sheikh Zayed Branch. I’m not surprised with their rapid expansion though (3 new branches within a year!) as they really serve quality and affordable Thai food!
And since Rence was raving about their newest branch in Sheikh Zayed and they offer free valet parking (big plus!), we decided to check it out.
We reached there just half-past 12 and it was already starting to get busy with hungry customers. I’m assuming most of them were corporate people because the restaurant is surrounded by office buildings and big hotels.
While waiting for our starters and drinks, we took some photos. Don’t you just love the natural light coming thru the glass windows?
After few minutes, our orders arrived which we happily consumed. To be honest, every meal they served was more than enough for one person. And even if we knew that we have eaten more than usual (already bordering gluttony!), we didn’t want to stop because everything was just oh so delicious! To give you a proof, just take a look at our Little Bangkok feast below.
For our drinks, Ian ordered Sathorn; Pure Pleasure for Rence; and Cha Nom Yen for myself.

Pure Pleasure. Our favorite! Chocolate ice-cream, banana, and snickers blended together to create this heavenly drink. AED22

Cha Nom Yen. Street-style Thai iced tea with milk. I just couldn’t get enough of this! In short, bitin! hehe
And now, hold your breath as I present to you our starters. These, by the way, were highly recommended by our Little Bangkok ‘expert’ Rence. 🙂

Neua Dad Diew. Fried sun-dried beef with crispy kaffir lime leaves, served with Sriracha chilli sauce. AED32
Before mains were served, I had to have this obligatory photo with my love 🙂
I was actually already satisfied with the starters when these huge servings of mains arrived on our table. Tell me, how can I resist devouring these plates of authentic and delicious Thai food?

Pad Thai. Rice noodles with prawns, stir fried in sweet tamarind sauce, and garnished with bean sprouts and roasted peanuts. AED40 (You can also opt for chicken/vegetarian topping)

Pad Kee Mao. Flat rice noodles with chicken, stir fried in soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, chilli and Thai basil. AED38 (You can also opt for seafood/vegetarian topping)

Panaeng. Beef simmered in a Penang curry, with Kaffir lime leaves. AED48 (You can also opt for Prawn/Chicken for your meat)
We took our time and relished our food over some funny stories and reminiscing. It was really amazing to look back and realize how much we have grown since we met 5 years ago in Baguio.
After clearing everything on our plates, we checked out the 2nd floor. And I was impressed!
Not only Little Bangkok serves quality and affordable Thai Food, they also provide a friendly service and relaxing ambience! Just worth your every dirham. 😉
See, I’ve never been to Thailand but if given a chance, I would love to go there as I’ve always been curious about its nice beaches and of course, THEIR FOOD! But for now, I will just keep visiting Little Bangkok to have my fair share of authentic Thai cuisine and just let my imagination bring me there. 🙂
